The Life of Story of Mother Esther E. Vicks

A Time to be Born
Esther E. (Childs) Vicks was born on June 3, 1932 to the late Charlie and Helen Childs in Balty, Virginia located in Caroline County.

A Time to Die
Esther Vicks was called to her eternal resting place on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 6:48 p.m.

A Time to Grow
Esther’s early education was in the public schools of Caroline County, Virginia. She later moved to Washington, D.C. where she continued her education and graduated from the University of the District of Columbia (UDC). She was employed with Jelleff’s Department Store as a Stock Clerk of Silver Spring, Maryland, Fannie Mae as a Cashier of Washington, DC, National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a Seamstress and Elevator Operator of Bethesda, Maryland, and District of Columbia Foster Grandparents Program (sites included Children’s Hospital and First Rock Baptist Daycare Center) just to name a few. She wrote a book but never had it published entitled “Faith, Prayer, and Healing” and published a poem entitled “When I Think of Yahshua”.

A Time to Love
Later in life, Mother Esther and Pastor Elder Raymond Vicks, Sr. married on December 30, 2001. Through this union their blended families joined as one, which include sixteen children.

A Time to Serve
Mother Esther attended Gospel Ark Temple, Washington, DC. where she received the Holy Spirit. Later she was directed by the Holy Spirit to be a Sabbath Day Keeper. She attended 7th Day Mission of Yahweh, Washington, DC under the leadership of the Late Pastor Olivia Brooks before joining 7th Day Yahwist Assembly, Capital Heights, Maryland under the leadership of Pastor Elder Michael Veney. She was a member for 42 years and was later ordained as a Minister. She was the Mother of 7th Day Yahwist Assembly, Sabbath Day Teacher, member of the Mothers of Israel Organization, and an Usher. Mother Esther supported her Pastor in several capacities: she served on the Board of Directors; was a Fervent Prayer Warrior; assisted with New Member Orientation; provided care for the Sick and Shut in, and willingly encouraged other members, as needed. During the time Mother Vicks lived on "G Street SE", she would often open up the doors to her home for prayer services, so much that she was known throughout the community as “The Church Lady”. Mother Vicks was also known for her “fried fish” at Feast times and those tasty “high pound cakes.” She loved and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.
